Oris

Post by Furball » Sun Sep 04, 2016 7:35 pm

I was saving for a Omega Speedmaster and two things conspired to nerf it... It went up in price too much, and I decided it's a little too big. So instead I got two other watches I've really been wanting, and I only spent half the money I had saved up. So, yay!

Here's my Oris Aquis.

Nifty watches, especially this one. :)
How good does it keep time? Is it user-adjustable with that eccentric screw?

I haven't worn a watch since my first mobile phone, but I wore ultra-classy Casio and Timex models. I am certain this was an elite watch I was wearing at my first Junior-Senior prom...

there's some seriously cool watches for reasonable cost. Plug these into Amazon:
Orient Blue Ray 2 FAA02005D9
Seiko Flightmaster SNA411
Seiko Orange Monster SRP309
Seiko SKX009

^ Love all of these.

For a little more Hamilton Khaki King, Tissot Visodate, Squale Heritage 1545 are very nice stuff with Swiss ETA 2824 movements. The blue ray movement is almost as nice as a 2824 imo.

Here's my edc Seiko SKX007, awesome watch, bombproof, sexy, cheap.

G-Shock has some ridiculously cool/fun watches that would fit a guy with a bigger wrist.

My wrists are actually not so large- just have big hands. Have not had a watch in many years, but it would be cool to check the time without turning on the phone. And an auto watch is appealing because no battery. But I'm cheap even though I like nice things. And definitely don't want a flashy watch or a particularly large one. A small simple comfy stealth watch.

Hamilton khaki field watch sounds like a good one for you. Classic and classy, understated, mid sized, looks great on leather or a nato strap, and cheap. They recently got the upgraded movement too, which has an 80 hour power reserve, so you can take it off after work on Friday and it's still running Monday morning when you put it back on.

Edit - I'm not absolutely confident the stock leather band would be long enough for you. You might consider the version with the metal bracelet and then pick up a $30 leather band later (in size L) or switch it onto a nato strap (which is what I would do). Nato straps are the absolute bomb btw, light and comfortable, and if one pin breaks the watch doesn't hit the floor.

Edit #2 - From what I've seen today, the leather strap is long enough that it will accommodate almost any size wrist.
